What is it like to live in Mosman, NSW?

Any mumsnetters living in this particular area of Sydney?

I'd love to hear about people's experiences living with children in Mosman, as I am moving there at the end of the month.

In particular, what is there to do in the neighbourhood with a 3 and a 1 year old.

We lived there until June 2013 & seriously loved it. We only moved to come back to the uk as we had a 3 month old baby & family here but are currently planning to move back!

We were engaged when we first moved there as opposed to having kids, but the lifestyle is very family orientated. You have Balmoral beach which is just lovely with some great cafes & a couple of fantastic restaurants, Mosman village has a great little kids park, some excellent produce at the green grocers, delis & patisserie - again excellent cafes for sitting in the sunshine & having a yummy lunch or brunch. You also have chowder bay beach which is stunning & Sydney harbour national park in Mosman with lots of walks. All of the beachs & national parks have very very clean picnic benches & bbq facilities (all free). You also have Taronga Zoo in Mosman which is just beautiful (it's quite expensive so better to get an annual family pass if going regularly with kids).

Mosman is also only a 20 minute bus journey into Sydney CBD where you have the opera house, botanical gardens or you can take a short stroll to darling harbour where you have the wildlife centre & aquarium.

I'm sure there's lots I've missed out to..

Do you know whereabouts in Mosman you are moving? I'm very jealous, we'd move back there in a heartbeat smile

I hope this helps a bit, someone else that has lived there with kiddies may be able to help more but feel free to ask me if you have any more questions smile Good luck with the move! We may cross paths in the not too distant future ;)

Thank you miss! That makes me feel much better about our decision, which was made on the basis of being fairly close to DH's work (Artarmon?) and
near a beach. First three months are being spent one street from Balmoral beach, then it's fingers crossed that we can find a suitable rental there in that time.

Pleasure to help! You will love it smile

The only thing I will say since you mentioned the street, which you may find a bit difficult is the location being actually AT balmoral beach. It is stunning, don't get me wrong, but Balmoral itself is at the bottom of a very very large hill (Mosman and the shops are at the top). So you may find it a bit of a pain if you wanted to be able to take a quick walk to the shops. I think it would be quite hard with 2 littlies in the summer/autumn heat. We used to live at the top so easy access to everything on foot and then a nice stroll down to the beach when we wanted to. There is a bus service up to the top but I can't remember how often - maybe every 30 mins? Having said that though its obviously only temporary & living next to Balmoral will be lovely. Funnily enough my DH worked near Artarmon when we first moved to Mosman too smile
